Skeleton Coast

Join our guides on this drive and experience the captivating history and natural wonders of the Skeleton Coast. We will take you on a memorable journey along this renowned shoreline, providing fascinating insights into the remnants of the past.

You will encounter remarkable sights that will transport you back in time, as you marvel at the remains of the Suiderkus, a “modern” shipping vessel that unexpectedly ran aground in 1977 despite its advanced navigation system. Discover the Karimona wreck, a testament to the treacherous nature of these waters, and explore the remnants of the Westies Diamond Mine, a fascinating relic of Namibia's mining history. Keep your eyes peeled for the Ventura Bomber, an intriguing reminder of bygone aviation endeavours.

The bustling seal colony at Möwe Bay is a breeding ground for the Cape Fur Seal, and hosts thousands of these enchanting creatures as they bask on the shore. Thriving on the abundant sea life brought by the cold Benguela current, these seals have made this coastal haven their year-round home. Please note that approaching the seals is strictly prohibited for their safety and yours, but you'll have ample opportunities to observe and photograph them from a safe distance, capturing memories that will last a lifetime.

While this excursion is typically offered upon your arrival or departure from Möwe Bay, we understand that experiencing these wonders is a priority for our guests. Therefore, it is available on request, allowing you to indulge in the awe-inspiring sights and sounds of the Skeleton Coast at your convenience.
